Marblehead has been the backdrop for countless summers for Andy and Gina Redinger, who have deep roots in the community.   Going back generations, their family has vacationed, volunteered, played, worked, and lived in Marblehead.  It’s been the backdrop for family time at the lakehouse… together on the porch, in the backyard, on the dock, and around the table and bonfire.  

The building that is now Red’s Lakehouse has a long history in Marblehead too. Originally Buck’s Market and gas station in the 1960’s, it was the spot Mrs. Buck famously doled out penny candy to all the kids in the neighborhood.  Most recently the building was home to the beloved O’Tays Pizza.  After O’Tays closed, the building sat empty for two years with no buyers in sight.  

Andy and Gina took a complete leap of faith and purchased the building with a dream to establish an eatery the entire community could enjoy and be proud of.  

With a vision to create a gathering place where both full-time and seasonal visitors could laugh, enjoy great food, and make memories on the peninsula, the Redinger’s got busy bringing Red’s to life in Marblehead.

Fast forward several years and Red’s is the full-service, coastal-inspired restaurant they envisioned.  Red’s opened in the summer of 2023 with Andy and Gina’s partner,  Cleveland restaurateur Doug Petkovic.  Doug and his team have decades of experience in the hospitality industry, managing CLE hot spots including Lola’s, Flannery’s, and Mabel’s BBQ in Cleveland’s downtown.  Without Doug and his team of professionals, Red’s wouldn’t have happened.  You’ll often see Doug at Red’s enjoying the guests and lending a hand wherever he’s needed.
